Wastewater 18 February, 2021 BIO-FILTER LIVE REPAIRS Stonbury completed masonry repairs to three bio-filter beds in the South of England. The works took place in sequence to allow the bio-filters to remain in service for the twenty-week construction program duration.
Water 18 February, 2021 APPLICATION OF BONDED MEMBRANE TO CYLINDRICAL COLUMNS A client approached Stonbury to complete a routine flood test as a part of a flood test and cleaning programme. The flood test was carried out over five days due to the roof’s size - approximately 12500M2. The flood test revealed points of ingress and internal coatings that had failed.
Wastewater 27 January, 2021 REEDBED REFURBISHMENT Stonbury were engaged to carry out refurbishment works to a reedbed system at a Water Recycling Centre (WRC) in the South of England. The site serves a small community, with the reed bed providing settlement and treatment capacity for effluent before it reaches the watercourse. The works were required as the reedbed had ceased to be effective, due to sludge, overgrown reeds and leaf litter.
Water 27 January, 2021 Service Reservoir Floor Refurbishment A framework client contracted Stonbury to carry out refurbishment works to a service reservoir floor where soft concrete issues had been identified. The floor surface had been deemed unsafe to walk on due to multiple slips, trips and falls inside the tank.
Environment 21 December, 2020 Stepped access Design, Fabrication & Installation A client asked Stonbury to stabilise the banks at a monitoring station on the River Isbourne to improve the safety of the access to the river bank. The scope included the installation of a secure, gated, non-slip staircase with handrails, and cleaning and calibrating the river level gauge boards.
Water 21 December, 2020 Circular tank Insulation Installation Stonbury was asked to provide a solution that would shield two above-ground steel tanks from the summer heat. The works were required as the temperature during the summer months was promoting the growth of bacteria inside the water tanks.
Environment 30 November, 2020 DAM AND WATERCOURSE REFURBISHMENT A county council contracted Stonbury to carry out a package of repair works to dams and watercourse at various locations. The repairs were required due to deterioration of the masonry, erosion, tree root damage and water ingress.
Water 26 October, 2020 Water Sample Tap Cabinets Stonbury’s civil engineering division completed the installation and refurbishment of regulatory sample taps as a part of a minor civils package for an existing reservoir refurbishment framework.
Water 26 October, 2020 Tunnel Lining Works As a part of an existing framework, Stonbury was contracted to carry out optioneering works to improve the condition and maintenance requirements of an impounding reservoir tunnel.
Environment 29 September, 2020 Weed Screen Replacement Following a successful tender, Stonbury was engaged by a client to design a trash screen that incorporated a manually operated vertical penstock screen.
Environment 29 September, 2020 IMPROVING WATER CONVEYANCE Stonbury was contracted to complete works along a tributary of the River Avon in Worcestershire. The works were necessary to maximise conveyance and improve the positive impact of the flood storage area upstream.
Water 26 August, 2020 WATER TOWER ROOF REFURBISHMENT Stonbury was contracted to extend the life of a water tower in the South of England. This included the removal and replacement of the entire roof slab.
