Marine Outfall Repairs

Stonbury was contracted to design and deliver repairs to four outfalls which form part of a wastewater treatment works in the northeast of Scotland.

WWTW CAPITAL GROWTH & MAINTENANCE

Working on behalf of an alliance partner, Stonbury carried out critical growth and maintenance works at a Wastewater Treatment Works in Scotland as a part of a capital maintenance programme. The works were required due to considerable population growth within the catchment area.

BIO-FILTER LIVE REPAIRS

Stonbury completed masonry repairs to three bio-filter beds in the South of England. The works took place in sequence to allow the bio-filters to remain in service for the twenty-week construction program duration.

REEDBED REFURBISHMENTS (1)

Stonbury were engaged to carry out refurbishment works to a reedbed system at a Water Recycling Centre (WRC) in the South of England. The site serves a small community, with the reed bed providing settlement and treatment capacity for effluent before it reaches the watercourse. The works were required as the reedbed had ceased to be effective, due to sludge, overgrown reeds and leaf litter.

WRC FILTER CHANNEL REPAIRS

Stonbury was contracted to carry out repair works at a ‘Water Recycle Centre’ (WRC) to extend the life of the existing filter channels and outlet chamber.

Reedbed Refurbishment Works

Following a condition appraisal, Stonbury were contracted to complete refurbishment works to an existing reed bed, constructed to treat the leachate from a capped putrescible tip. Reedbeds provide a relatively low-cost solution to treat a range of effluents and they produce fewer carbon emissions than using traditional civil and process engineering technology.

New Build Tertiary Treatment Plant

The Stonbury civil engineering branch completed works as part of the final stages of a large turnkey construction project for a framework client. The project involved the installation of a new Tertiary Treatment Plant, fully compliant with the EA’s consent for discharge into the river.

WWTW Automated System Installation

Working on behalf of an Alliance Partner, Stonbury were contracted to complete the installation of an automated system, to control pumping stations that fed into a wastewater treatment works. The scope also included alterations to the existing inlet works to improve flow control and isolation.

New Build Inlet Structure

As part of significant capital maintenance to a wastewater treatment works (WWTW) in Southern Scotland, Stonbury were contracted to construct a new sewage inlet structure during SR15, complete with inlet & outlet DI pipework and an RC magflow chamber.

Sludge Holding Tank Refurbishment

Stonbury were contracted by a framework client to refurbish two sludge holding tanks at a sewage treatment works constructed in the early 1970’s. The works formed part of a larger upgrade to the waste water treatment works and this element of the project required specialists in the application of chemical protective lining systems.

Inlet Chamber Reconstruction

Due to severe hydrogen sulphide attack, Stonbury were contracted to rebuild a failing inlet chamber at a wastewater treatment works (WWTW), this included the replacement of all defective rebars within the walls.
