Flood Bank Slippage Repair

Stonbury was called in by the Environment Agency to solve a challenging problem. A mud flood bank on the River Avon at Pill had slipped, threatening the integrity of residential flats that were situated alongside a stretch of the tidal reach. The void had to be infilled with stone on a geotextile base to re-establish the integrity of the bank, however, access to the site proved to be quite a challenge.

Flume Weir Repair & Refurbishment

Stonbury was contracted to carry out repair works to a flume weir which had failed due to a leak around the wing wall. The leak had eroded the bank to such an extent that a large void had formed.

Circular Service Reservoir Refurbishment

Stonbury were to complete refurbishment works to a service reservoir dating back over a century to give it an additional 30-year lease of life at a fraction of the cost of building a new one.

Slow Sand Filters

Stonbury were asked for their involvement with an Investigation and Design (I&D) project, aimed at understanding the poor performing slow sand filters at a Water Treatment works in the Essex supply area. With both the expertise in civil engineering and operational structures within the water supply network, Stonbury were suitably selected to provide an added value solution for these challenges. For the initial investigation and design, Stonbury employed Amec Foster Wheeler, to review the particular issues around the slow sand filters, whilst providing a full market appraisal.

Stonbury were contracted to complete internal and external refurbishment works to a large clean water reservoir.

New Build Reservoir

As the Reservoir Refurbishment Framework Contractor for South Staffordshire Water, Stonbury had the opportunity to tender for the design and build of a 10Mg potable water storage point at SSW’s Outwoods site, on the outskirts of Burton on Trent.

Stonbury have recently completed modifications and improvements to 2 stream catchment intakes in the Welsh Mountains, to ensure maximum collection of water feeding the water treatment works.

Break Tank Construction

Stonbury were commissioned to construct a new concrete break tank at a Water Treatment Works. The purpose of the new tank is to allow the water company to decommission an existing contact tank.

GAC Backwash Tank Refurbishment

Stonbury refurbished a GAC backwash tank at a Water Treatments Works following an inspection and clean that we recently carried out for the client. Report findings showed that extensive internal and external refurbishment works were needed. Works involved internal joint refurbishment and minor steel work coating repairs to the outlet pipe to both cells of the tank. We were also contracted to clean the cells ready for return to service at works completion.

Stonbury have completed extensive internal and external refurbishment works for one of our framework clients, to a service reservoir approximately 100 years old.

Weir & Dam Refurbishment

We were contracted after lengthy client/designer/contractor investigation works to complete the full refurbishment of 10 No. weir and dam structures near Burton upon Trent. The site had been vastly converted to be a high profile strategic site but these structures landed outside the main development area and now required immediate upgrade in case of collapse.

Water Treatment Works Contact Tanks Refurbishment

Stonbury were recently awarded the contract for the repair and refurbishment of internal contact tanks within a Water Treatment Works facility.
