Stonbury are immensely proud to be supporting our clients across the UK at such a crucial time and have been designated as 'key workers' by DEFRA and the UK water utility companies. Our teams are working tirelessly to help secure and maintain drinking water supplies, ensuring clean and safe drinking water is provided without interruption to critical services such as our hospitals as well as the general public. Now more than ever, the safety and wellbeing of our staff is of the utmost importance and we have adapted our safe working practices to ensure social distancing precautions are in place and that the correct hygiene practices are being followed. Making safety is our priority, and we endeavour to make sure everyone at Stonbury goes home safe to their family.
Kingcombe Aquacare were asked by North Somerset Council to design, fabricate and install a new trash screen at Clevedon, Somerset. The new structure was fabricated in our workshop to the Environment Agency’s specification. The steelwork was then trial assembled in our yard to check for accuracy and sent away to be galvanised to the required specification. We then prepared and painted everything with a two pack epoxy paint system.
The galvanising process alone would be sufficient to protect the structure but the client was keen to reduce the visual impact of a freshly galvanised structure in an urban environment.
The installation was programmed to take place during the school term and required a lane closure in the high street. The complete fabrication was lifted into place with a HIAB and fixed in to position in a 5 hour window. The final fixing and alterations were completed on the following day by the Kingcombe Aquacare team.
