CRAIG OLDFIELD NAMED STONBURY EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2024

We are proud to announce that Project Coordinator Craig Oldfield has been recognised as Stonbury's Employee of the Year 2024. This well-deserved honour comes because of numerous 'Employee of the Month' nominations, which serve as a testament to Craig's unwavering dedication to our values.

Why did you choose to work for Stonbury?

I was drawn to Stonbury by the opportunities for career growth and development. Before joining, I worked in a factory with limited career opportunities. With a family to support, I was eager to progress in my career.

A friend recommended a job opening at Stonbury. After learning more about Stonbury from discussions with our Regional Director in Derby, Mark Coope, I was drawn to the nature of the work and the potential to develop my skills. The prospect of being part of a supportive team and working on meaningful projects made it an easy decision to apply.

How has your role progressed, and what opportunities have you been given?

Since joining Stonbury eight years ago, I have progressed from a Site Operative to my current role as Project Manager, gaining experience in positions such as Site Supervisor, Site Coordinator, and Project Coordinator along the way. Throughout my journey, I have benefited from training opportunities, as well as the unwavering support and guidance of my colleagues, which has been huge part of my growth here at Stonbury.

Where do you hope to be in five to ten years?

I was recently promoted to Project Manager, and I am eager to develop and excel in this role. I look forward to embracing new challenges, honing my skills, and gaining valuable experience. At the same time, I want to keep an open mind to the opportunities this position may present for my future growth and career progression.

What three things do you enjoy most about your job?

  • The different sites we get to work on. From the locations of some of the sites to the style of tanks we enter.
  • The site teams I work alongside.
  • The challenges we face on the different projects we undertake.

What's been your favourite project to work on so far? Why?

I’ve been involved in many projects over the last 8 years, each project has had its highlights. The first project I had the opportunity to Project Coordinate is one of my favourites. I was able to gain vast experience with the commercial, programming, budgets and direct correspondence with clients. This role allowed me to develop strong problem-solving skills, enhance my ability to manage multiple challenges, and gain a deeper understanding of project timelines and deliverables.

Another favourite would be my first experience in a tank. I was an interesting job to be involved in, with a large team on site and due to the treatment works having to be shut down in stages everyday was a different task and tank.
