We completed a major refurbishment project at a strategically important water treatment works, extending the lifespan – by over 10 years – of a critical asset whilst mitigating the need for a costly and carbon intensive new build alternative.
Storm tank installation
A 55 cubic metre sectional-steel storm tank with sustainable features was installed at a wastewater treatment site to comply with regulations to cut sewage overflows. The works significantly reduced running costs for our client and allowed them to meet specified carbon reduction targets while increasing stormwater capacity to help protect local waterways for decades to come.
Large-scale weir removal
On behalf of the EA we successfully opened 340 miles of catchment in the largest project of its kind – in the country – by removing a 70 meter wide, 900 year old medieval weir. Removing the weir significantly improved fish migration, spawning grounds and habitat. Fallen water levels have also allowed natural ecological processes to recommence.
Steel tank refurbishment
Stonbury refurbished a steel potable water tank to prolong its length of service by two decades.
Steel water tower demolition
Stonbury were contracted to optioneer and price for the demolition of an abandoned water tower in the north of England.
Steel tank refurbishment & roof replacement
Stonbury was contracted to refurbish and replace the roof on an above-ground, modular bolted glass-fused-to-steel (GFS) tank.
Filter bed refurbishment
As a part of an ongoing Slow Sand Filter Framework, Stonbury carried out refurbishment works to several filter beds that required repairs to the walls, and floor replacements due to deterioration over time and reduced performance.
Fill point injection hatches
A client approached Stonbury to produce a hatch solution that would eliminate the risk of potable water contamination during tankering operations.
Surge vessel access & lining refurbishment
As part of an ongoing inspection and maintenance programme, Stonbury was contracted to carry out refurbishment works to one of the client’s surge vessels.
Surge vessel refurbishment
Stonbury was contracted for the refurbishment of 3 No surge vessels after an inspection highlighted the manways did not conform to the current confined space specification.
Water liner installation
Stonbury were recently asked to inspect a reservoir that required some minor remedial works, including repairs to the exposed roof joint, however substantial ingress through the floor slabs and the adjacent redundant tank was quickly identified.
Water sample tap cabinets
Stonbury’s civil engineering division completed the installation and refurbishment of regulatory sample taps as a part of a minor civils package for an existing reservoir refurbishment framework.
Water tower roof refurbishment
Stonbury was contracted to extend the life of a water tower in the South of England. This included the removal and replacement of the entire roof slab.
Water tower steel roof fabrication
Stonbury were tasked with a refurbishment project for a Water Tower built in year 1910 in South East London.
Water tower valve replacement
Stonbury was pleased to deliver replacements to several gate valves within a water tower during a four- week programme.
Water treatment works contact tanks refurbishment
Stonbury were recently awarded the contract for the repair and refurbishment of internal contact tanks within a Water Treatment Works facility.
Wave wall investigation
Stonbury was contracted to complete investigation works into the condition of an existing wave wall structure on an impounding reservoir.
Critical asset repairs
Earlier in the year, we began carrying out repairs to a failing reservoir which showed signs of severe water ingress. The original scope included 180 linear meters of crack repairs. However, following an inspection, this increased to more than 300.
Contact tank cover replacement
Stonbury was contracted to replace the hatch covers on a live potable water reservoir in the East Midlands.
