We completed a major refurbishment project at a strategically important water treatment works, extending the lifespan – by over 10 years – of a critical asset whilst mitigating the need for a costly and carbon intensive new build alternative.
Storm tank installation
A 55 cubic metre sectional-steel storm tank with sustainable features was installed at a wastewater treatment site to comply with regulations to cut sewage overflows. The works significantly reduced running costs for our client and allowed them to meet specified carbon reduction targets while increasing stormwater capacity to help protect local waterways for decades to come.
Large-scale weir removal
We successfully opened 340 miles of catchment in the largest project of its kind – in the country – by removing a 70 meter wide, 900 year old medieval weir. Removing the weir significantly improved fish migration, spawning grounds and habitat. Fallen water levels have also allowed natural ecological processes to recommence.
ROV Spot Sampling
Stonbury company Panton McLeod demonstrates the importance of utilising technology that enables the assessment of water quality within the body of clean treated water service reservoirs.
Contact tank clean and repair
Collaborating with Stonbury company Panton McLeod, we delivered cleans and repairs to three WTW contact tanks on a potable water treatment site in the Northeast.
Liquid membrane solution
After a service reservoir was scoped by an external structural engineer and found to show signs of water ingress, Stonbury was contracted to identify and install a solution.
Pipe bridge refurbishment
Stonbury was contracted to carry out refurbishment works to two pipe bridges located on the River Chelt.
Wave wall investigation
Stonbury was contracted to complete investigation works into the condition of an existing wave wall structure on an impounding reservoir.
Slow sand filter refurbishment
We modernised an ageing sand filter to support longer, more efficient operational cycles.
Critical asset repairs
Earlier in the year, we began carrying out repairs to a failing reservoir which showed signs of severe water ingress. The original scope included 180 linear meters of crack repairs. However, following an inspection, this increased to more than 300.
Surge vessel revitalisation
Stonbury was recently tasked with revitalising a surge vessel to extend its operational life and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Gauging station equipment installation
Stonbury was instructed to design, manufacture and install a bespoke two-headed, pole-mounted radar bracket to measure water height levels at a gauging station in the midlands.
Steel baffle curtain solution
A new stainless steel and Flagon curtain baffle wall solution was delivered by Stonbury’s specialist in-house team.
Loose liner installation
A loose-lay liner solution has provided long-lasting ingress protection to a steel contact tank within a rapid timeframe.
Service reservoir refurbishment
Stonbury were recently contracted to undertake internal and external repairs to two adjacent clear water tanks located in Central Scotland.
Service reservoir floor refurbishment
A framework client contracted Stonbury to carry out refurbishment works to a service reservoir floor where soft concrete issues had been identified. The floor surface had been deemed unsafe to walk on due to multiple slips, trips and falls inside the tank.
Improving water quality compliance
Companies within the Stonbury Group were enlisted to provide a chemical clean and baffle curtain modifications within a treated water reservoir to reduce the potential presence of bacteria and remove dead spots within the tank.
Application of bonded membrane to cylindrical columns
A client approached Stonbury to complete a routine flood test as a part of a flood test and cleaning programme.
Reservoir roof replacement
Working for a client on an individual tender, Stonbury replaced a roof membrane and all upstands and hatches on a reservoir in Southeast England.
