We completed a major refurbishment project at a strategically important water treatment works, extending the lifespan – by over 10 years – of a critical asset whilst mitigating the need for a costly and carbon intensive new build alternative.
Storm tank installation
A 55 cubic metre sectional-steel storm tank with sustainable features was installed at a wastewater treatment site to comply with regulations to cut sewage overflows. The works significantly reduced running costs for our client and allowed them to meet specified carbon reduction targets while increasing stormwater capacity to help protect local waterways for decades to come.
Large-scale weir removal
On behalf of the EA we successfully opened 340 miles of catchment in the largest project of its kind – in the country – by removing a 70 meter wide, 900 year old medieval weir. Removing the weir significantly improved fish migration, spawning grounds and habitat. Fallen water levels have also allowed natural ecological processes to recommence.
Building resilience to stormflows
Using sustainable technology and off-site manufacture, we installed additional storm capacity to a wastewater treatment site reducing storm overflows and protecting the surrounding watercourses.
Scum board replacement
Delivering a scum board replacement and access platform installation on a sewage treatment site, our innovative methodology delivered maximum value for our client.
ROV Spot Sampling
Stonbury company Panton McLeod demonstrates the importance of utilising technology that enables the assessment of water quality within the body of clean treated water service reservoirs.
Reinforcing coastal wastewater outfalls on the North Sea
We delivered urgent structural repairs and erosion protection to safeguard a wastewater outfall at risk of collapse.
Marine outfall repairs in northeast Scotland
We carried out structural repairs and erosion protection to four coastal outfalls at a wastewater treatment works.
Contact tank clean and repair
Collaborating with Stonbury company Panton McLeod, we delivered cleans and repairs to three WTW contact tanks on a potable water treatment site in the Northeast.
Improving gauging station access
In collaboration with the Environment Agency, Stonbury’s environmental team installed specially-designed access steps at a gauging station in Devon.
Increasing stormwater capacity
We proudly partnered with Yorkshire Water to reduce storm overflow discharges at the Williamthorpe wastewater treatment works in Yorkshire.
Service reservoir floor refurbishment
A framework client contracted Stonbury to carry out refurbishment works to a service reservoir floor where soft concrete issues had been identified. The floor surface had been deemed unsafe to walk on due to multiple slips, trips and falls inside the tank.
Lake restoration
Stonbury were approached by a private client to restore a neglected lake and its surrounding area. The lake had accumulated a considerable amount of silt build up and the grounds had become highly vegetated, offering no vehicular access and was prone to flooding.
Improving water quality compliance
Companies within the Stonbury Group were enlisted to provide a chemical clean and baffle curtain modifications within a treated water reservoir to reduce the potential presence of bacteria and remove dead spots within the tank.
Application of bonded membrane to cylindrical columns
A client approached Stonbury to complete a routine flood test as a part of a flood test and cleaning programme.
