Sally Carrington-Porter named Stonbury Employee of the Year 2025
We’re delighted to share that Site Coordinator, Sally Carrington-Porter, has been named Stonbury’s Employee of the Year 2025.

This recognition follows multiple ‘Employee of the Month’ nominations, reflecting the consistent impact Sally makes across the business. In addition to her site role, Sally is a Co-Leader of our Women’s Network, a member of our Wellbeing Committee, and a dedicated Mental Health First Aider, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to supporting colleagues throughout the organisation.

Why did you choose to work for Stonbury?

I applied for the position at Stonbury because I saw it as the next step in my career. I was looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to grow and progress within a company. Over the past two and a half years, I’ve been fortunate to have that opportunity and to develop here.

How has your role progressed, and what opportunities have you been given?

I started in an office-based role as a Contracts Delivery Administrator, supporting Project Managers with the behind-the-scenes aspects of their projects and providing additional administrative support as needed. After around a year and a half in that position, I was ready for a new challenge, and the delivery team offered the opportunity to step into the role of Site Co-ordinator.

What three things do you enjoy most about your role?
  • The relationships I’ve built with the site teams I’ve worked alongside have been particularly rewarding.
  • I’ve developed a strong understanding of site-based processes and the solutions we can offer clients, supported by additional training and knowledge.
  • This role has significantly increased my confidence and self-belief, which, in turn, has supported my wider development, including taking part in the Open Programme training and stepping into a leadership role within the Women’s Network.
What’s been your favourite project to work on so far? Why?

I have enjoyed all of the projects I’ve been involved in. In my first project, I particularly enjoyed observing the external works during the summer and seeing the teams operating the plant and machinery.

Another project in the Midlands was also interesting, especially when it came to identifying the best solutions for removing spoil from the roof. It was impressive to see the practical, innovative solutions the team developed.

What would your advice be to anybody interested in joining the industry?

Take the change – it had never occurred to me just how much work goes into refurbishing and maintaining drinking water tanks, or the level of effort required to return them to service. There are many opportunities across different sectors in the industry, and Stonbury is excellent at promoting from within and investing in its employees’ development.
