Why did you choose your role at Stonbury?
As I was contemplating new career opportunities, a friend of mine mentioned a job opening at Stonbury. Whilst out driving one day, I happened to see one of Stonbury's vans and decided that I should check out the website to see what roles were available. I was specifically looking for a hands-on job that would provide me with a sense of satisfaction, as I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I like a challenge. I found a site based position that came with all the specialist training, so I decided to apply for the role.
What are your long-term aspirations?
I finding my current role fulfilling and enjoyable, though I don’t think it will too far into the future before I’d like to take on additional challenges and more responsibility. But firstly, I would like to gain a little more experience in my current role. I am already grateful to Stonbury for the opportunities they have given me so far. I’ve spoken to a lot of people who worked their way up into senior roles, so and I am looking forward to what the future may hold in terms of career growth for myself.
What do you think is important in your career?
I think the sense of accomplishment at the end of a project is important, as is the opportunity to learn new skills. I always take pictures of the work we have done, taking pride in what we have achieved on site. It’s a reminder of all the effort that we went to for each of the projects that we deliver.
What skills have you learned so far at Stonbury?
When I first started this role, I didn't have much prior knowledge at all, though the works are very specialist so it was a completely new experience for me. Every day presents a new and unique challenge and many opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge. I look forward to future challenges and grow as a professional in this field.
What aspects of your job do you enjoy?
I get to be part of a great team, with people who aren't just my colleagues but my friends too, Stonbury has that kind of vibe here. I also have the opportunity to visit new places, and working and travelling together means that we bond with each other which in turn makes us work even better together, always going the extra mile for each other.
