Environment 24 April, 2019 Weed Control Hydrocotyle ranunculoides, commonly known as Floating Pennywort is a non-native invasive species that is spreading rapidly throughout canals and other watercourses. Capable of growing at around 20cm per day, Pennywort creates thick strands of vegetation, obstructs water flow and often out-competes native species. Pennywort can also increase the risk of flooding in some areas.
Environment 14 February, 2019 Outfall Structure Repairs Stonbury was contracted to carry out comprehensive repairs to an existing outfall structure situated on a lake in the South West. The original scope of works involved desilting around the outfall pipework, however, following an investigation, deep voids were identified within the dam structure.
Environment 31 January, 2019 Lake Restoration Stonbury were approached by a private client to restore a neglected lake and its surrounding area. The lake had accumulated a considerable amount of silt build up and the grounds had become highly vegetated, offering no vehicular access and was prone to flooding.
Environment 28 September, 2018 Flood Alleviation Scheme A village in East Devon was subject to regular flood events due to the low capacity of the surrounding drainage ditches. Stonbury was contracted to complete a flood alleviation scheme at three locations around the village, protecting residential properties as part of a broader flood defence strategy.
