Lightning Fast Response

At Stonbury we pride ourselves on being able to react quickly for our clients wherever possible.  Our reactive cleaning and maintenance teams are familiar with this and demonstrate efficiency on a regular basis with planned maintenance works. An unexpected situation meant we were able to demonstrate this beyond our expectations. On a recent clean, Stonbury were called to assist Yorkshire Water on returning the asset to supply as quickly as possible. Reactively and with only two hours’ notice, we were able to gather a team of 7 staff to site by 4:00PM that Friday afternoon. The Stonbury team efficiently finished the works that afternoon, returning on the Saturday morning to complete final clearing of site.  Yorkshire Water praised Stonbury for their efforts and awarded each team member with Golden Helmet reward vouchers.  Yorkshire Water Engineer, Dave Axe sent his thanks to Stonbury, stating “it’s good to know when our backs are against the wall you can find the people to support us and complete the task.”

Stay Hydrated - Drink More Water

At Stonbury, the health and wellbeing of our staff has always been extremely important to us Earlier this Summer, we launched our new health and wellbeing campaign ‘Stay Hydrated’ encouraging our staff to, well… stay hydrated! Many of our staff and site operatives are fortunate to work in and among the great outdoors, however without regular water intake, they are especially at risk to dehydration and in hotter temperatures, heat stroke and exhaustion. As part of our campaign to promote good health and encourage drinking more water, we are very excited to launch our new Stonbury water bottles, making drinking water that one step easier. Alongside the water bottles, we have water coolers and campaign awareness posters in every Stonbury office, site and cabin. Check out these happy faces and remember to 'Stay Hydrated!'

Due to the continuing progression of the Company, Stonbury has re-organised into four regionally dedicated teams We are extremely excited by this initiative and believe that this will allow us to increase our client service level. Our customers now have dedicated points of contact to personally discuss all their business needs. The make up of the teams and their respective client bases are as follows: BLUE TEAM – Team Leader Richard Harrison – Clients: Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Welsh Water YELLOW TEAM – Team Leader Bob McKinnie – Clients: Northumbrian Water, Scottish Region GREEN TEAM – Team Leader Mark Coope – Clients: Severn Trent, South Staffordshire Water ORANGE TEAM – Team Leader Stuart Brooks – Clients: Anglian Water, Thames Water, Essex and Suffolk Water, Affinity Water Stonbury Directors responsible for the operation of the teams are Jon Featherstone who will oversee Blue and Yellow and Jon Perryman who will look after Green and Orange. The Teams  Whilst the teams have primarily been set up to facilitate our existing frameworks, they have also been tasked with a Client Development role, identifying new and alternative opportunities within our clients' geographical areas. Any non-framework client, personnel or other framework contractor who requires advice on any scheme that we can assist with, can now contact the appropriate regional Director or Team Leader directly.  To make our management and site operatives feel proud to work within their teams, we have held a number of team event days, undertaking a diverse range of activities from ‘Go Ape’ through the forests, track days and even archery, clay pigeon shooting and axe throwing! We hope that the spirit created through these events will have a positive influence on how we conduct ourselves in the full range of disciplines involved in the delivery of our projects. It is important to stress, that all our teams are still expected to carry out their work to the same high standards in terms of safety, quality and ethics as mentioned by Stonbury’s Company Management System. In anticipation that all clients will notice a difference in the way we are conducting our business, we would appreciate any feedback, positive or otherwise, through our Client Portal.

UKWIR Research Project Workshop

UKWIR: Developing best practice guidance for Service Reservoirs and Water Towers Earlier this month Stonbury were pleased to assist Mott MacDonald Consulting Engineers at the first UKWIR workshop into ‘Best practice guidance for Service Reservoirs and Water Towers’. The project aims to identify the best practices associated with the design, installation and operational stages of the two water assets. Ultimately, developing an Assessment Management Toolkit, for guidance  to enhance the life and performance of the water asset.  The workshop held on the 5th July, gathered numerous water companies, leading industry consultants and suppliers to discuss the strategies for better risk management of service reservoirs and water towers. Participants were able to learn about UK and International best practice, shape the emphasis of the research project and validate the current outputs of the research to date.  With over 30 years experience working with water assets, Stonbury presented the main issues encountered from our experience and the range of solutions we have employed over these years. The outcome of this research is to provide a best practice guidance for the operating and maintenance of existing assets, but should also serve as a decision support tool for total expenditure planning (TOTEX). It is anticipated the research will advise water companies’ 25 year strategic planning, potentially offering solutions for problems which could be encountered in PR19.
